Sascha Feuchert (born October 29, 1971 in Gießen ) is a German literary scholar and didactician as well as a publicist. He is professor for modern German literature with a focus on Holocaust and camp literature and its didactics at the Institute for German Studies at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. There he has been head of the Holocaust Literature Unit since 2008 (deputy head from 2000 to June 2008). Since 2009 he has also been an honorary professor in the Department of World Languages ​​(German Section) at Eastern Michigan University .

Life

Feuchert studied German, English and pedagogy and became Oskar Singer and Oskar Rosenfeld in 2003 with a thesis . Two authors from the Lodz Ghetto are doing their doctorates; he is u. a. Editor of the Chronicle of ghettos Lodz / Lodz (5 volumes, Wallenstein-Verlag ) and the diaries Friedrich waiter (2 volumes, Wallenstein-Verlag) and author a reading key to Bernhard Schlink The Reader ( Reclam-Verlag ), and a Notes strip to Ruth Klüger further live (Reclam-Verlag). Between 2007 and 2011 he was the founding chairman of the Kempowski Society , and since 2009 he has been chairman of the Gießen Literary Center. Feuchert is also a member of the PEN Center Germany , of which he was vice-president and representative for " Writers in Prison " between 2012 and 2018. In 2017 and again in 2020 he was appointed by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth as a representative of the PEN Center for the "Literature" group as an assessor at the Federal Testing Office for Media Harmful to Young People . From 2017 to 2019 Feuchert was also a member of the board of the Hessian Literature Council.
