Franz Freisleder (born February 22, 1931 in Munich ) is a Bavarian writer and journalist.

Franz Freisleder grew up in the Schwabing district of Munich . After graduating from high school, which he obtained in 1951, he studied theater studies and journalism. In 1956 he came to the Süddeutsche Zeitung , where he later worked for a long time as head of the local affairs department and editor-in-chief of the Münchner Stadtanzeiger. In the 1970s to 1990s he was often heard and seen on radio and television with his own contributions on "white-blue" topics. He has been retired since 1996.

Franz Freisleder is best known for his 14 books so far, some of which he wrote in poetry - often in dialect - and partly in prose. In it he describes life in Bavaria, especially in Munich, in a varied mix of the past, the present, the cultural history and the self-experienced. Particularly popular: His history of Bavaria from the Stone Age to today in the form of a dialect poem. Most recent work: Under the title "Meine Münchner Kindheit" (My Munich Childhood), memories of the youth of the Nazi period and the first occupation.

Freisleder is one of the Munich tower clerks . From 1996 to 2000 he was president of the Münchner Trabrenn- und Zuchtverein eV
