Franz Gredy

Franz Gredy (born December 25, 1843 in Mainz , † January 25, 1917 in Charlottenburg ) was a German factory director.

Franz Gredy, son of Professor Friedrich Melchior Gredy , attended high school in Mainz and studied mechanical engineering in Karlsruhe . After graduating, he worked as a designer in Manchester and Glasgow for a year . Afterwards he worked for the Schwartzkopff'sche machine factory in Berlin .

At the beginning of the 1870s, Gredy held managerial positions in Liège and Brussels , and from 1875 to 1886 at the van der Zypen & Charlier company in Cologne-Deutz . For this company he managed the Russian-Baltic wagon factory in Riga from 1886 to 1892 , and was later its general agent in Berlin.

Gredy belonged to the Association of German Machine Engineers for many years as a member of the board and the committee for the use of the donated funds. He had been married since 1882. The marriage resulted in two daughters and a son.
