Franz Martin Friedrich Ludwig Gundlach (born November 17, 1872 in Neustrelitz , † November 17, 1953 in Neubrandenburg ) was a German politician ( DDP ). From 1919 to 1933 he was a member of the state parliament of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Strelitz .
Live and act
Franz Gundlach was the son of a grocer. After training in the postal service, he took up a position as telegraph secretary in Neubrandenburg in 1904. In the same year he married Gertrud Auguste (* 1883), daughter of the city secretary Zachow. The marriage had two children.
After Gundlach had done military service in the First World War , he became chief telegraph secretary in Neubrandenburg in 1919, and later chief telegraph inspector. From 1929 he held the position of post office man there.
As a member of the German Democratic Party (DDP; from 1930 DStP) Gundlach was a member of the first to sixth state parliaments of Mecklenburg-Strelitz from March 1919 to March 1933 . He belonged to various parliamentary groups : first of all the DDP, whose parliamentary group he was during this time, from 1923 BAM (Bürgerliche Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Mitte), 1927 DDP, 1928 WV (Economic Associations) and in 1932 again BAM. On May 16, 1919, he was unanimously elected President of the first state parliament. He held this position again in the second and third state parliaments.
On March 20, 1930 Gundlach was appointed to the third Parliamentary State Council in the State Ministry of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. They acted as advisers to State Minister Kurt von Reibnitz . Reibnitz, against whom a motion of no confidence ran, released Gundlach from his position on December 4, 1931, but his successor Heinrich von Michael reinstated him on the same day. When the government was reformed, Michael appointed the NSDAP MP Fritz Stichtenoth to the Parliamentary State Council on April 7, 1932 , and Gundlach resigned from office with the other two previous State Councilors.
After Gundlach left the DStP, he sat in on the parliamentary groups of the DNVP and NSDAP in February and March 1933 .
In addition to his political work, Gundlach was from 1920 to 1930 Vice President of the Kirchentag of the Mecklenburg-Strelitz regional church and a member of the Upper Church Council . In 1928 he was awarded the medal for art and science in the course of the inauguration of the Neustrelitz State Theater . He belonged several times to the state administrative court of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and in 1932/33 to the Reich Disciplinary Court .
In 1934 the post office clerk Gundlach retired. In 1940 he was required to do emergency service and until 1945 worked as an unskilled worker at the food and economic office of the city of Neubrandenburg. After that, due to his financial situation, he tried again for a job at the post office, but was rejected by the central administration for post and telecommunications in the SBZ because of his age and hearing loss, despite the advocacy of Wilhelm Höcker . He died on his 81st birthday in Neubrandenburg.
