Franz Heinzl
Franz Heinzl (born April 13, 1892 in Stockerau , Austria-Hungary , † May 16, 1922 in Stockerau, Austria ) was an Austrian national soccer player .
Career
Franz Heinzl played successfully as a striker for the provincial club Stockerauer SV 07 , from which he was brought to Vienna by Wiener AF at the beginning of 1914 . Franz Heinzl was able to convince immediately with his striker qualities and after just a few weeks scored his goals in the Viennese selection against Berlin and Munich. Under Hugo Meisl he finally made his international debut on May 3, 1914 in a 2-0 win against Hungary . The Stockerauer was no less successful with the WAF, winning the Austrian championship already in the debut season 1913/14 .
If the First World War allowed, Franz Heinzl continued to play for the national team and the WAF. He played a particularly good game on October 3, 1915, in which he scored twice in a 4-2 draw against Hungary. After the end of the war, however, Franz Heinzl's health deteriorated noticeably. A lung disease finally forced him to give up football, and in May 1922 he succumbed to his illness.
