Franz Jäger (art historian)

Franz Jäger (born June 6, 1961 in Halle an der Saale ) is a German art historian and epigraphist .

Jäger studied classical archeology and art history at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . Since 1996 he has been a research assistant at the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig for the research project The German Inscriptions of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Age . In 2005 he was with a dissertation on the subject of inscriptions as evidence of historical and artistic changes to Dr. phil. doctorate and in 2008 accepted into the commission for the art history of Central Germany at the Saxon Academy of Sciences.

From 2006 to 2015, Jäger was honorary chairman of the board of the Friends of the Buildings and Art Monuments of Saxony-Anhalt e. V. He is an author, reviewer and editor of numerous specialist publications.
