Franz Josef Huber (born December 30, 1926 in Dornbirn ) is an Austrian electrical engineer , inventor , author , castle researcher and local researcher from Vorarlberg in Austria .

Life

Franz Josef Huber was born the son of Ferdinand Huber (born June 19, 1888– June 18, 1969), master weaver, and Martina Huber-Schwendinger (born November 10, 1900– June 21, 1995), housewife.

He attended the Dornbirn / Oberdorf elementary school from 1933 to 1935, the Dornbirn / Haselstauden elementary school from 1935 to 1938 , the state high school in Dornbirn / Markt from 1938 to 1941 and the vocational school in Dornbirn from 1941 to 1944.

He has been married to Anna Maria Regina (née Hug) since April 26, 1952 and they have 3 children (Wolfgang, Irmgard and Elisabeth). He lives in Dornbirn in Vorarlberg.

Franz Josef Huber was an apprentice for electrical engineering at FM Hämmerle from July 15, 1941 to May 1, 1944 and passed the skilled worker examination as an industrial electrician on April 24, 1944 and then worked as an electrical assistant at Hämmerle until June 12 . In June 1944 he had to join the military ( Gebirgsjäger , Škofja Loka ). After the collapse of the National Socialist dictatorship and five weeks as a prisoner of war , he began to work again as a company electrician at Hämmerle and on May 30, 1951, he passed the license examination for the lower level electrical engineering trade.

From 1966 to 1986 he headed the electrical department at Hämmerle (from July 1, 1979 operations manager for electrical engineering and electronics) and celebrated the company's 75th anniversary on July 15, 2016. His grandfather had already worked for Hämmerle for 66 years and his father for 45 years.

Franz Josef Huber was also a member and later also chairman of the examination committee of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce in several specialist areas from 1969 to 1986 .

Franz Josef Huber (vulgo: "Burgenhuber") has also been active in local research with a focus on castle history for decades and has written a large number of articles in specialist journals, held excursions and lectures and was heard in radio interviews as well as on television and was so known beyond the borders with the research and restoration of ruined castles and palace complexes.

He has been a member of the Vorarlberg State Museum Association since 1962 and chairman of the Castle Committee of the Vorarlberg State Museum from 1964 to December 31, 2008 and a founding member of the Dornbirner Heimatmuseumsverein (1975). As part of his work as chairman of the castle committee, 13 castle restorations were carried out professionally and as true to the original as possible. For this purpose, he also carried out tests with regard to medieval construction technology (e.g. with regard to the mortar used).

Franz Josef Huber invented a moisture meter (fabric moisture meter DTFA-1/14 System Huber), by means of which the production of textiles could be increased significantly by continuously monitoring the residual moisture on the running textile web.
