Franz Josef Keßler

Franz Josef Keßler (born March 7, 1867 in Bartholomäberg ; † January 12, 1949 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ) and farmer. From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament and from 1914 to 1918 community leader of Bartholomäberg.

Live and act

Keßler completed compulsory school and then worked professionally as a farmer. He was involved in local politics in his home parish Bartholomäberg and became a member of the local council. In Bartholomäberg he also held the function of the community treasurer and also worked as the local school council chairman. Between 1914 and 1918 he directed the fortunes of the Bartholomäberg community as community leader. Keßler was a member of the Christian Social Party and was also active as a member of the Vorarlberg farmers' union. He was also involved as a member of the Bartholomäberg cattle breeding association and was chairman of this association from 1928 to 1941. He was also a member of the Montafon Farmers' Union and temporarily held the position of chairman there. He was also a co-founder of the Bartholomäberg volunteer fire department and its first secretary. Kessler ran for the state election in 1919 for the Christian Social Party in the constituency Bludenz and was sworn in as a member of the Vorarlberg Parliament subsequently on 17 June 1919th He was a member of the state parliament until he resigned his mandate on March 13, 1921 and was a member of the Agriculture Committee.

Private

Franz Josef Keßler was the son of the mayor and assistant teacher Franz Josef Keßler (1827-1894) and his wife Maria Regina Keßler (1833-1871), née Ganahl. Like him, his two parents saw the light of day in Bartholomäberg, where they also died. Keßler married Franziska Mangeng (1870–1902), also from Bartholomäberg, on October 7, 1895 in Bartholomäberg. After the early death of his first wife, Keßler married Franziska Schuler (1863–1908) on May 11, 1903 in Bartholomäberg and Maria Loretz (1885–1924) after her death on November 7, 1910 in Bartholomäberg. While Franziska Schuler, like his first wife, was born in Bartholomäberg, his third wife came from Silbertal . After his first two marriages remained childless, Keßler and his third wife had five sons and one daughter, and his children were born between 1911 and 1920. After his third wife died, Keßler married a fourth time on November 7, 1927 in Bartholomäberg, his fourth marriage to Franziska Bitschnau, widowed Battlogg (1873–1961) remaining childless.

Franz Josef Keßler was the brother of the Landtag member Josef Keßler (1885-1967).
