Franz Kampers

Franz Kampers (born October 16, 1868 in Oesede near Osnabrück , † May 21, 1929 in Stockdorf near Munich ) was a German historian .

Live and act

After studying in Münster and Munich (law and history), Kampers obtained his doctorate in history in Munich in 1893. The topic of the dissertation was: The Tiburtine Sibyl of the Middle Ages , Excursus I on "Imperial Prophecies and Imperial Legends in the Middle Ages, a Contribution to the History of the German Imperial Idea" . Then he was editor (from 1902 also publisher) on the historical yearbook of the Görres Society for the care of science. He became a librarian at the Munich Court and State Library in 1895, during which time he published extensive studies on the medieval imperial idea, then embarked on a university career and was appointed extraordinary professor for medieval history and historical auxiliary sciences at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Breslau in 1902 , 1903 at the same university as full professor.

In Wroclaw he researched not only his main area but also the history of the Silesian region.

Kampers has been an enthusiastic fraternity student in KV since his student days . In Münster he became a member of the KStV Association Germania , in Munich of the KStV Saxonia, and later he became an honorary philistine at the K.St.V. Ottonia Munich, in Breslau at Unitas-Breslau and Franko-Borussia. Kampers was very musically gifted and wrote and composed a number of student songs, which were then also included in the Kommers books .

In 1920 Kampers was given the title of Privy Councilor.
