Franz Kanefzky (* 1964 in Zusmarshausen ) is a German composer and horn player .

Life

Franz Kanefzky was born in 1964 in the Augsburg district and received his first horn lessons at the age of twelve . At the same time he began to write his own compositions. He studied at the Augsburg Conservatory . Since 1991 he has been playing horn with the Munich Radio Orchestra . In terms of composition, Kanefzky is at home in many genres: orchestral works, chamber music works, choral pieces and instrumental concerts are just as much a part of his work as drama music, alphorn works and brass symphonies. His children's concerts Helden auf dem Notenblatt ( Staatstheater Oldenburg 2002, Bayerischer Rundfunk 2004, Theater Trier 2009, Duisburger Philharmoniker 2009, Theater Kiel 2014 - world premiere of the Kiel version), Grandfather tells (Bayerischer Rundfunk 2009, Theater Kiel 2012, Duisburger Philharmoniker 2013, Theater Trier 2013), Don Quijote de la Mancha (world premiere at Bayerischer Rundfunk 2010) and an orchestra - in good shape! (World premiere at Bayerischer Rundfunk 2015) round off Kanefzky's oeuvre as a composer and are largely available on CD. In the field of children's concerts, he works closely with Konstantin Wecker and Paul Maar .

Franz Kanefzky regularly writes commissioned works for Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Herrenchiemsee Festival, “Die Bühne” Nuremberg and the Bavarian State Orchestra .

Awards

Franz Kanefzky was awarded 1st prize in the Children to Olympus competition ( Kulturstiftung der Länder ) in the music category for his music education project with his children's concert "Heroes on the Sheet of Music".
