Franz Karl (Erbach-Schönberg)
Count Franz Karl zu Erbach-Schönberg (born July 28, 1724 in Schönberg ; † September 29, 1788 Ibid) was a Dutch major general and ruling count of the sub-county of Erbach-Schönberg and a knight of the Russian Order of St. Anne .

His parents were Count Georg August zu Erbach-Schönberg (* June 17, 1691; † March 29, 1758) and his wife Countess Ferdinande Henriette zu Stolberg-Gedern (1699–1750).
Life
Franz Karl went into service in Hesse and became Cornet in 1741 . In 1744 he changed to the imperial service as captain. In 1747 he came into service as a lieutenant colonel in the Netherlands, and in 1749 he became a colonel there. In 1772 he was also promoted to major general.
After the death of his brother Georg Ludwig , he returned to the county of Erbach as the ruling count in 1777 and married shortly afterwards. He died of a stroke in 1788. His younger brother Christian succeeded him as the ruling count.

In 1778 he married Countess Auguste Karoline zu Ysenburg and Büdingen in Büdingen (* March 15, 1758, † April 22, 1815), a daughter of Count Gustav Friedrich zu Ysenburg and Büdingen . The couple had a daughter:
