Franz Karner

Franz Karner (* 1738 in Mittenwald ; † 1817 ibid.) Was a German painter. He was born at Laintalstrasse 50 in Mittenwald, where his parents ran a pine soot and potash distillery that Karner continued. After he had acquired his first painting skills, he was one of the earliest Lüftlmaler in Upper Bavaria alongside Franz Seraph Zwinck from Oberammergau . A large number of his works, most of which are religious images and representations, have been preserved in Mittenwald. You can also find works by him in Wallgau , Jachenau and Vorderriß .
