Franz Seraph Zwinck

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Franz Seraph Zwinck (* 1748 in Oberammergau ; † 1792 there ) was a German Lüftlmaler .

The concept of Lüftlmalerei should go back to him. It is unclear whether this designation is related to the name of his home, "Zum Lüftl", or whether it originated because the painter also did his work on the house when "Lüftl" was blowing around the house.

Works

In his short creative period he created a number of house paintings, which can be seen in Oberammergau and Mittenwald in particular . The painting of the Pilatushaus in Oberammergau is one of his most famous works. Around 1780 Zwinck painted three frescoes in the nave vault of the parish church of St. Georg in Bad Bayersoien and the frescoes on the facade of the "Schulmeisterhaus" in Unterammergau. He created frescoes in the parish church of St. Martin in Garmisch , and painted the church of St. John the Baptist in Grainau in 1782. Apparently his last work he created in 1792 in Bad Kohlgrub .
