List of architectural monuments in Unterammergau
The monuments of the Upper Bavarian community of Unterammergau are compiled on this page . This table is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria . The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority.
ensemble
Hinterdorf Unterammergau
E-1-80-135-1
The ensemble includes the northern part of the large village of Unterammergau, the so-called Hinterdorf. The area consists of four parallel, straight alleys with five rows of farms in a uniform, open arrangement, which were built in 1836 and shortly afterwards. The village, located in the Ammergau directly on the edge of the high mountains on an old Rottstrasse, was ravaged by large local fires in 1777, then again in 1836. After the first fire had destroyed sixty-three of the mostly completely wood-built farm and craftsmen's properties, and the second forty-one, the royal authorities, who supported the reconstruction, were instructed to implement a building method that differs from the older, dense pile village structure Fire protection and hygienic considerations are the basis.
The wide-spread farmer properties with mostly five window axes on the gable side were built in massive construction in traditional Einfirstart and with sufficient distance between the individual buildings. The roofs were covered with tiles and were given a steep incline in contrast to the older flat leg shingle-pitched roofs of the Oberland. The authorities also ordered the buildings to face south in order to use the sunny location for the residential areas. They were staggered so that all gable fronts had a free south-east facing position. The picture of each alley shows lime-white gables with gable balconies to the north, the wooden gables of the boarded-up, rear economic sections of the next building line to the south. The properties are surrounded by small house gardens, often still with fruit trees. In the Pürschlingstraße, the ridge of the stately Gasthof Stern faces east, so that the gable front of the building forms an impressive end to this main street to the west. Except for a few modern balconies, the ensemble shows the undisturbed historical character. In the south-north direction there are delightful views through the rows of the staggered properties.

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The monument property - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the monument atlas or the entry in the Bavarian monument list. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
