Franz Kortschak

Franz Kortschak (born April 28, 1908 in Deutschlandsberg , † July 5, 1986 in Ehrenhausen ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ), federal winery inspector and winegrower. From 1949 to 1959 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

Kortschak attended the community school in Voitsberg from 1919 to 1922 and then completed an apprenticeship in the fruit tree nurseries of the "Westland" in Deutschlandsberg . In 1927 he continued his education at the Styrian State Fruit and Viticulture School in Silberberg and passed the teaching examination for teaching at fruit and viticulture schools. From 1927 to 1930 he attended the Federal Higher Education Institute and Federal Experimental Station for viticulture, fruit growing and horticulture in Klosterneuburg and was subsequently a guest student at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna until 1931 .

After an assistant practice in 1926, Kortschak became winery manager of the West Styrian agricultural producers' association "Westland" in Deutschlandsberg in 1931 and rose to head of Westland in 1934. From 1936 to 1938 he worked as a hiking instructor for viticulture and fruit growing and was then a viticulture consultant and head of the Leibnitz and Radkersburg viticulture offices until 1940 . Between 1942 and 1943 he taught as a specialist teacher for viticulture and cellar management in Marburg an der Drau . After the Second World War, he worked from 1946 to 1948 in civil consulting in viticulture and cellar management. In 1948 he became viticulture inspector for western Styria and in 1949 federal winery inspector. In 1952 he started his own business by purchasing a wine-growing business.

Kortschak was a member of the Ehrenhausen municipal council and represented the ÖVP in the National Council from November 8, 1949 to December 15, 1959.
