Franz Laub (theologian)

Franz Laub (born December 11, 1935 in Dietelhofen ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and university professor of New Testament exegesis .

Life

Franz Laub was born as the son of Josef and Felizitas (née Fränkel) Laub. After studying philosophy and Catholic theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Passau , he was ordained a priest in Passau in 1964 . From 1965 to 1966 he worked as a boarding school prefect and religion teacher at the grammar school in Pfarrkirchen . This was followed by a doctoral degree at the University of Munich from 1967 to 1972 , which he completed in 1972 . He continued his studies from 1972 to 1975 as a fellow of the DFG . In 1978 he received his habilitation for New Testament exegesis in 1978 from the Catholic Theological Faculty of the LMU Munich .

From 1978 to 1979 he was a substitute professor at the University of Paderborn , from 1980 to 1983 he was a private lecturer and academic advisor at the LMU Munich. From 1983 he taught and researched as professor for New Testament exegesis at the LMU Munich. He retired in 2001.

Maria Neubrand was his student among others .
