Franz Mühlenberg

Franz Mühlenberg (born May 19, 1894 in Aachen , † February 16, 1976 in Würselen ) was a German CDU politician .

Life and work

After attending elementary school and training, Mühlenberg was a metal worker. He was involved in the Catholic Young Men’s Association in the Christian Metalworkers Association . He was also active in the Vitus Heller movement and the German Peace Society .

Political party

Mühlenberg was initially a member of the center during the Weimar Republic , but left it in 1926 because as a worker he no longer felt represented there. In 1946 he helped found the CDU in the Aachen district and was district chairman of the party from 1953 to 1957.

Mühlenberg was a member of the city council in Würselen and the district council in the district of Aachen, where he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. He was a member of the German Bundestag from its first election in 1949 to 1961. He represented the constituency of Aachen-Land in parliament and was always directly elected there, most recently (1957) with 61.2% of the first votes.
