The constituency of Aachen II (constituency 88) is a federal constituency in North Rhine-Westphalia . It includes the Aachen city region apart from the city of Aachen . Until the federal election in 2009, the constituency was named 89 Aachen District . The city of Aachen is the Aachen I . The Aachen II constituency consists primarily of two regions. While the Alsdorf-Würselen-Herzogenrath region is typically SPD-dominated, the CDU is traditionally elected in the Eifel (Monschau, Simmerath, Roetgen). Since the direct candidate for the German Bundestag is decided by majority vote, the constituency is comparable to a "swing state".
