Constituency history

The constituency was newly established for the 2002 federal election from parts of the former constituencies of Krefeld and Neuss II . The division of Krefeld into the two constituencies Krefeld I - Neuss II and Krefeld II - Wesel II caused great resentment in Krefeld. Complaints against this constituency division were brought before the Federal Constitutional Court from various quarters, but they were all dismissed. For the 2013 federal election, the constituency number changed from 111 to 110.
