Josef Müller (politician, 1919)

Josef Müller (born July 18, 1919 in Eschweiler ; † November 7, 1997 in Stolberg (Rhineland) ) was a German educator and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1938, Müller first completed an internship in a metallurgical company. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , was appointed lieutenant in the reserve and was finally taken prisoner.

After his release from captivity, Müller began studying at the Aachen Pedagogical Academy in 1946 , which he completed in 1947 with the examination to become a primary school teacher. He first worked as a teacher at an elementary school, passed the examination for middle school service in 1954 and worked as a secondary school teacher in Aachen from 1955 . In addition, he was involved in the Catholic youth movement and was chairman of the city youth association in Eschweiler from 1949 to 1968. He also participated in the organization of international youth exchanges in England and France .

Political party

Müller joined the CDU in 1947 and was elected chairman of the CDU district association Aachen-Land in 1954.

MP

Müller was from 1952 to 1961 council member of the city of Aachen and since 1956 a member of the district council. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1972. In parliament he represented the constituency of Aachen-Land . From 1965 to 1973 he was also a member of the European Parliament .
