Franz Martin Katterbauer (Czech: Frantíšek Martín Katterbauer ; † 1730 in Kuttenberg , Bohemia ) was a Bohemian sculptor and wood carver of the Baroque .

Life

Franz Martin Katterbauer's date and place of birth are not known. It was first mentioned in 1702 when the All Saints Cemetery Chapel in Kuttenberg was rebuilt and refurbished. He also created carvings for other Kuttenberg churches. His most famous work is probably the altar for the parish church of St. Aegidius ( Kostel sv. Jiljí ) in Nymburk . He created a statue of the Virgin Mary in 1722 for the nearby Sadská . The statue of Maria Immaculata in Červené Pečky near Kolín , made in 1724 or 1742, is attributed to him or his son Bernhard Anton Katterbauer .

After allegations that he did not adhere to the general guild rules, he was called to order by the elders of the carving and painting guild in 1706 . In 1710 there were also disputes with his pupil and journeyman Johann Paul Czechpauer and the sculptor Franz Forstner the Elder. Ä. ( Frantíšek Forstner st. )
