Johann Paul Czechpauer

Johann Paul Czechpauer (also: Czechbauer ; Zechbauer ; Zöhbaur ; Czech: Jan Pavel Čechpauer ; † around 1726 in Chrudim , Bohemia ) was a sculptor , stonemason and wood carver .

Johann Paul Czechpauer was a student of the Kuttenberg sculptor Franz Martin Katterbauer . From 1717 he worked in Chrudim, where he set up his own workshop. His main work is the plague column "Transfiguration of Christ" on the Ring in Chrudim, which was completed after his death by his colleague Ignaz Rohrbach . After Czechpauer's untimely death around 1726, Ignaz Rohrbach continued the workshop and married his widow.

Together with Giovani Battista Bulla, the brothers Georg Pacák and Franz Pacák as well as Ignaz Rohrbach, Johann Paul Czechpauer belongs to the circle of the sculptor Matthias Bernhard Braun .
