Franz Nader

Franz Nader (born November 22, 1865 in Lindau , Waldviertel ; † March 21, 1947 in Vienna ) was an Austrian trade unionist.

Life

Nader, who comes from the Waldviertel, learned the mason trade in Vienna. Here he joined the labor movement and founded the bricklayers' union in Austria together with Theodor Meißner and Franz Siegel. In 1891 he took over the position of editor of the Austrian construction workers newspaper from Josef Tomaschko , which he held until 1926. Between 1896 and 1919, Nader was a member of the trade union commission as the construction workers' representative.

Franz Nader campaigned for the merger of all professional organizations of construction workers in a unified association. He also took a decisive stand against Czech separatism in the trade union movement during the monarchy. The international merger of national construction workers' organizations was of particular concern to him.

Nader left his union functions in 1931 and retired.

In 1955 the Nadergasse in Vienna- Favoriten was named after him.
