Franz Pfeuffer

Franz Pfeuffer (born April 24, 1853 in Vienna ; † June 28, 1912 there ) was an Austrian technician.

biography

Franz Pfeuffer entered the service of the State Railway Company in 1873 after graduating from the Technical University , where he worked in the bridge construction department. He also gave lectures on building mechanics at the state trade school . He also wrote his own textbook for these purposes.

He was involved in replacing the pillars of the railway bridge over the Iglava, but also in tests of railway bridges in Bosnia and in the planning and construction review of bridges, churches and roof trusses. In Vienna he planned the construction of the Franzensbrücke over the Danube Canal and was involved in the construction of the Favoritner water tower and for the Redlich company he wrote a project for the Esküter Bridge in Budapest .

His employer, the State Railroad Company, sent him to the United States as a delegate to a railroad convention, appointed him to the head of the Department of Construction and Railway Maintenance and, as part of his teaching activities, also held the position of examination commissioner for state examinations at the technical college.

Between 1904 and 1905 Franz Pfeuffer was deputy head of the Austrian Association of Engineers and Architects.

Franz Pfeuffer, who died on June 28, was buried on June 30, 1912 in the Ober Sankt Veiter cemetery in a grave with the right to use the grave for the duration of the cemetery.
