Franz Renz (* 1968 in Wilhelmsburg (Lower Austria) ) is a chemist .

Life

Franz Renz studied mechanical engineering and industrial engineering at the higher technical federal teaching and research institute St. Pölten as well as technical chemistry at the Technical University of Vienna from 1982 to 1994 . After receiving his doctorate in Vienna in 1997, he worked as a postdoc at Ochanomizu University in Tokyo until 1998 . He then worked as a postdoc at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz until 2000 , where he completed his habilitation in 2005 . Since 2000, Renz has been part of the Mars Exploration Rover as NASA's space mission .

Franz Renz has held a professorship for inorganic chemistry at Leibniz Universität Hannover since 2008 . His research areas are materials chemistry , complex chemistry and molecular magnetism . He also deals with the synthesis and physical investigation of nanoscopic objects with a focus on Mössbauer spectroscopy .

Franz Renz is married. He practices the martial arts Aikidō and Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu with the degree of black belt .
