Franz Riegel

Franz Riegel (born February 9, 1843 in Würzburg , † August 28, 1904 in Ems ) was a German medic.

Riegel studied medicine in Würzburg, where he received his doctorate in 1867 and became an assistant at the Juliusspital . In 1873 he qualified there for internal medicine. In 1874 he became head of the internal department of the civic hospital in Cologne and in 1879 full professor for internal medicine at the University of Giessen and director of the medical clinic of the university hospital.

On August 6, 1886 ( registration number 2609 ) he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

He dealt with almost all areas of internal medicine and was known for a book on diseases of the stomach.
