Franz Romeder

Franz Romeder (born October 16, 1938 in Schweiggers ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmers' union. From 1969 to 1996 he was a member of the Lower Austrian State Parliament and from 1988 to 1998 first President of the State Parliament.

Life

After primary school, Romeder attended grammar school in Zwettl Abbey and then switched to Melk Abbey High School . After graduating from high school, he studied at the University of Vienna and completed his studies with the academic degree Mag. Jur. from. He then worked as secretary of the Lower Austrian Farmers' Union and was mayor of Schweiggers between 1971 and 1993. In addition, he was executive chairman from 1976 to 1986 and from 1986 to 1988 chairman of the Austrian Association of Municipalities , until he took over the role of president from 1987 to 1999. During this time the founding of the mouthpiece of the community federation, Kommunal , took place. Within the party, he was active as the main district party leader of the ÖVP between 1980 and 1999. He represented the ÖVP in the state parliament between November 20, 1969 and April 16, 1998, and on April 9, 1981 he took over the office of 3rd state parliament president. On February 25, 1988, he was elected First President of the State Parliament, where he held this position until he left.
