After a short stay at the University of Applied Arts with Leinfellner, Rosei continues to work alone again. Some sculptures are made using the concrete casting technique. From 1970 he works exclusively in stone (marble, limestone, sandstone), besides occupying himself with drawing (pencil, charcoal, watercolors). 1985 Start of work on a large mold for a bronze casting . Since then, bronze sculptures have been made time and again. Franz Rosei's work has been on display for over 30 years in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, including a comprehensive retrospective in the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna .

His central theme is - according to Franz Rosei - "the view of this life, the world and the desire to transform the result of this observation, investigation, into form".

Due to his individual handling of the sculptural language, Franz Rosei already played an important role in the art scene in the early 1980s and is today one of the most important sculptors in Austria .
