Franz Sigmund von Wagner (born November 12, 1759 in Erlach BE ; † September 11, 1835 in Bern ) was a Swiss draftsman , engraver and art lover .

biography

Wagner came from a patrician family in Bern and was a draftsman, engraver and art patron . From 1799 to 1803 he trained in drawing, engraving and etching in Zurich . In 1804 he organized the second Swiss art and industrial exhibition in Bern during the conference . He was one of the initiators of the Unspunnen Festival in 1805. A year later, he suggested the creation of an antique hall in Bern. Artistically, he was best known for his apt socially critical caricatures .
