Live and act

After attending elementary school, Sonner was trained at the commercial school. Later he became director of the state economic office for the Badische Handwerk AG and director of the Badische Landesgewerbebank AG (central office of the Baden credit cooperatives).

Sonner was politically active in the Catholic Center Party , in which he was one of Joseph Wirth's supporters . From December 1924 to May 1928 Sonner sat as a member of the Reichstag , in which he represented constituency 32 (Baden). He was also a member of the city council of Karlsruhe.

In August 1937, Sonner was arrested on charges of embezzlement . The National Socialist propaganda used this to publicly present him as a “fine central politician” in polemical and ironic attacks.
