Franz Steininger (politician)
Franz Steininger (born April 7, 1922 in Großraming ; † March 12, 1991 in Freistadt ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1962 to 1979 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .
Steininger attended grammar school after primary school and served in the Wehrmacht between 1940 and 1945 . After his return in 1946 he became a civil servant at the Freistadt employment office. From 1949 he became involved as local chairman of the SPÖ-Freistadt and in 1956 took over the function of SPÖ district party chairman for the district of Freistadt . In addition, he was Vice Mayor from 1956 and was entrusted with the agendas of the housing department. Furthermore, he was chairman of the social committee in the Freistadt municipal council. Steiniger also worked from 1956 to 1970 as district chairman of the ÖGB Freistadt. He represented the SPÖ from December 14, 1962 to June 4, 1979 in the National Council.
