Franz Termer

Karl Ferdinand Franz Termer (born July 5, 1894 in Berlin , † April 15, 1968 in Hamburg ) was a German ethnologist and Americanist .

From 1929 Franz Termer was professor for geography and ethnology at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . From 1935 to 1962 he was director of the Museum für Völkerkunde Hamburg and taught ethnology at the University of Hamburg . In 1940 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

His main research interests were Mexico and Central America, especially the Maya culture.
