Franz Wagner (painter)

Johann Daniel Franz Leberecht Wagner (born July 15, 1810 in Berlin ; † December 2, 1883 there ) was a German history , portrait , landscape and genre painter and lithographer .

Life

Before 1830 Wagner was a student at the Royal Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin. Subsequently, from around 1831/32 to around 1836, Wagner was a student in Wilhelm Hensel's private studio in Berlin. From 1835 to 1837 he stayed in Paris to train in Léon Cogniet's private studio and at the École des beaux-arts . From 1838 he worked as a painter and drawing teacher in Berlin. Between 1838 and 1864 he participated regularly in the Berlin Academy exhibition and in 1856 in the tenth major exhibition of the Bremen Art Association .
