Franz Wassermeyer

Franz Wassermeyer (born February 12, 1940 in Bonn ) is a German lawyer. He was presiding judge at the Federal Fiscal Court (BFH).

biography

Wassermeyer studied law at the universities of Geneva , Bonn and Cologne from 1959 to 1966 , followed by a legal clerkship at the Cologne Higher Regional Court . In 1967 he was with the work "The limping to the marriage and the limping divorce law applicable" from the University of Bonn to Dr. iur. PhD.

After entering the higher judicial service in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , he was appointed judge at the Finance Court in Düsseldorf (Cologne External Senate) at the end of 1975 . In February 1984 he was appointed judge at the Federal Fiscal Court , the highest court in tax and customs matters. From 1984 he worked there as a judge and since April 1998 as presiding judge. In addition to two years as chairman of the 4th Senate, he worked in the 1st Senate, which is mainly concerned with corporate tax and external tax law.

Wassermeyer has been a lecturer since 1973 and an honorary professor at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn since 1985 .

Wassermeyer took legal retirement on February 28, 2005. A short time later he switched to the law firm Flick Gocke Schaumburg , where he works as a lawyer and tax advisor .

Publications

Wassermeyer is the author of numerous specialist publications and co-editor of the journals "International Tax Law" (IStR), "European Journal for Business Law" (EuZW), "Tax and Economy" (StuW).

Awards

In 2005 he was awarded the Gerhard Thoma Prize.

On 11 July 2008, the Department of Economics, computer science and business law awarded him the University of Siegen , the honorary doctorate .
