Franz Wenger

Franz Wenger (born February 25, 1950 in Grossarl ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and state official. He has been a member of the Federal Council since 2009 .

education and profession

Wenger attended primary school in Taxenbach between 1956 and 1960 and then from 1960 to 1964 the secondary school in Lend . He then learned the profession of locksmith and mechanic and in 1968 he completed his apprenticeship as a construction and art locksmith and car mechanic. Wenger worked as a fitter and mechanic from 1965 to 1973 and entered the service of the State of Salzburg in 1974, where he has been working for the Zell am See district authority ever since . Between 1977 and 1980 he made up his Matura in evening classes in Zell am See, after which he passed the state clearing examination in Salzburg between 1981 and 1982 . He also did his military service in 1979 . Wenger continued his education at the Federal Administration Academy and between 1999 and 2002 attended courses in cost accounting and controlling, project and administrative management, cost-performance accounting in the public sector and key figures as a control tool. In 2008 he was appointed to the government council.

Politics and functions

Wenger was elected a member of the municipality of Taxenbach in 1989 and took over the office of mayor in 1993. From 1989 to 2009 he was party chairman of the ÖVP local group Taxenbach and has also been regional chairman of the Austrian Workers' Federation (ÖAAB) since 2005 and its district chairman in Pinzgau since 2007. Wenger has also been chairman of the Pinzgau regional public transport association since 2000 and has been the representative of the Pinzgau mayors in the Musikum Salzburg board of trustees since 2004. On April 22, 2009 he was elected to the Federal Council.

Wenger has been an active member of the Taxenbach Trachtenmusikkapelle since 1960 and was also head of the tennis section at the Taxenbach sports club from 1986 to 2004. He also worked from 1986 to 2003 as a member of the board of directors of the Taxenbach sports club and from 1982 to 1989 he was youth advisor and coach Pinzgau in the Salzburg tennis association.
