Franz Witzany

Franz Witzany (born March 26, 1890 in Kapfenberg , † May 24, 1949 in Graz ) was an Austrian farmer and politician .

Life

Born the son of a tailor , Witzany took part in the First World War as an officer and was so badly wounded that his left leg had to be amputated. From 1916 he studied agriculture in Tetschen-Liebwerd , where he also became a member of the Demetria fraternity in 1916 . After his studies he was politically active and was elected to the state parliament in the constituency of Central and Lower Styria in 1920, which he held until 1923 and from 1927 until it was dissolved in 1934. In 1923 he was a member of the National Council in Vienna for four months . From 1940 to 1947 he became director of the Grottenhof agricultural school .
