Franz Xaver Wutz (born October 21, 1882 in Eichstätt ; † March 19, 1938 there ) was a German priest and professor of the Old Testament at the Eichstätt University .

Wutz studied theology in Eichstätt and became a Catholic in 1907. Ordained priest. In 1911 he became professor of exegesis at the Philosophical-Theological University of Eichstätt. In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler .

In his transcription theory, Wutz was of the opinion, like Oluf Gerhard Tychsen before, that the translators of the Septuagint had Greek transcription texts (like the second column of the Hexapla ) of the Hebrew text. But his theory could not prevail.
