Franz Xaver Steels

Franz Xaver Stähle (* 1752/1753; † March 14, 1817 ) was a Swabian painter. Stahl's date of birth is unknown. The birthday of January 28, 1753, 1752 or June 28, 1783 is sometimes assumed. The last-mentioned date is, however, extremely unlikely, since several pictures of him are documented in earlier times. The place of birth also varies. The places Eisenburg , Amendingen and Krumbach are included in research. Most likely, however, Eisenburg is likely to be the birthplace of Franz Xaver Stähles, as is stored in the Memmingen city archive.

On November 20, 1782, Franz Xaver Stähle married Maria Anna Fröschle, the widow of Jakob Fröschle , who died in the same year . The three children Jakob Fröschle, Johannes, Pius and Maria Barbara were also taken into the household, whereby the two sons probably also learned the painting trade. His wife died in 1807 at the age of 67. He himself died on March 14, 1817 in Krumbach .
