Jakob Fröschle (born February 20, 1742 in Krumbach ; † April 26, 1782 there ) was a painter and barrel painter .

The martyrdom of Saint Felizitas with her seven sons in the pilgrimage church in Tussenhausen (1777)

Jakob Fröschle was trained by Stephan Haberes in Weißenhorn . There he got to know the art of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo through Franz Martin Kuen . He was likely to have spent his journeyman years in Augsburg. During this time he orientated himself towards Johann Georg Bergmüller , Matthäus Günther and others. From 1767 he was a master in Krumbach and developed into an important rococo fresco in Central Swabia . He received his first order for the pilgrimage church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Haupeltshofen . The high-quality representation of the scene of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in the choir and the homage to the four continents in the nave are characterized by a lively style of clothing and figures rich in gestures. He painted the Premonstratensian monastery church in Ursberg between 1775 and 1776. The frescoes of the founding of the order and the founding of the monastery are clearly influenced by Franz Martin Kuen, who painted the nearby Premonstratensian monastery church in Roggenburg, in terms of the choice of motifs and the coloring. Another important fresco by Fröschle is the martyrdom of Saint Felicitas and her seven sons in the pilgrimage church of Our Lady in Tussenhausen from 1777.

Jakob Fröschle was married to Anna Bader and had ten children with her. After Fröschle's death, Anna Bader married the Memmingen painter Franz Xaver Stehle .
