Franz Zamponi

Franz Zamponi (born July 30, 1904 in Wels , † February 28, 1966 in Linz ) was an Upper Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and lawyer. He was chairman of the Association of Socialist Academics in Upper Austria and from 1945 to 1966 a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament .

education and profession

Zamponi spent his youth in Villach, where he also graduated from the local high school. After he had passed the Matura in Villach , he studied law at the universities of Freiburg , Vienna and Graz and received his doctorate in law in 1927. Already during his studies Zamponi worked in the municipal administration of Villach, after the elevation of Villach to a statutory city he took over the position of the deputy director of the Villach magistrate. In addition, he was chairman of the staff representatives for municipal employees in the city of Villach. Zamponi was forced to retire in 1934, the year of the Austrian Civil War . After the beginning of the Second World War , Zamponi had to do military service for several years, after which he came to Steyr-Daimler-Puch-AG as an employee of the legal department. Already after his compulsory retirement he started training as a lawyer, which enabled him to work as a lawyer in Linz from 1945 after the end of the war. In addition, he became a member of the Bar Association's committee in 1945 and subsequently also worked as an examination commissioner for the judicial and bar examinations at the Linz Higher Regional Court .

Politics and functions

Zamponi was involved in the Social Democratic Party in Linz and became a member of the SPÖ district leadership in Linz. He subsequently rose to become a member of the SPÖ party representation of the Upper Austria party executive and also held the office of chairman of the Association of Socialist Academics in Upper Austria. He was also a member of the supervisory board of the Ranshofen-Berndorf metal works. He represented the Social Democratic Party of Austria from December 13, 1945 to February 28, 1966 in the Upper Austrian state parliament, where he was chairman of the committee for municipalities, constitution and administration, for general and internal affairs and the committee of the rules of procedure. He also held the role of deputy chairman of the finance committee and the immunity committee.

Zamponi was married and had one son.
