Franz von Knapp

Franz Gustav Adolph Knapp , from 1833 von Knapp , (born September 30, 1791 in Stuttgart ; † November 11, 1855 ibid) was a German administrative lawyer and senior administrator in Württemberg.

Life and work

Franz von Knapp studied law in Tübingen from 1809 to 1813 and became a member of the Corps Suevia there . In 1811 he was recruited into the infantry, but released until the end of his current studies. It was not until 1813 that he was called up after completing the university exams. In 1814 Knapp had to go to war, he took part in the French campaign as a lieutenant.

At the end of 1814 he began his professional career as a trainee at the city administration and at the Stuttgart District Office . In December 1814 he became provisional senior actuary in Lorch . In July 1817 he passed his service examination and was then from 1817 to 1819 senior administrator in Lorch. In 1819 he became a senior bailiff at the Welzheim District Office . In 1820 he moved to the Oberamt Kirchheim , which he headed for 28 years (until 1848) as Oberamtmann. In 1842 Knapp worked on the description of the Kirchheim office. In 1848 he retired.

Honors, ennobling

Franz von Knapp was awarded the Gold Medal of Honor for Paris in 1814 as a participant in the war . In 1833, he received the Knight Cross of the Order of Württemberg crown , which with the personal needle tracks ( Nobilitierung ) was connected.
