Franziska Scheffler (chemist)

Franziska Scheffler , née Wegmann (* 1964 in Elgersburg ) is a German chemist. She deals with the field of zeolites for applications in the energy and environmental sectors.

Life

Franziska Wegmann was born in 1964 as the fifth child and only girl of an Elgersburg family. She graduated from high school in a special chemistry class in Merseburg in 1983 , which she attended with her future husband, Michael Scheffler . Their first son was born in 1984, followed by two more sons in 1994 and 1997. In 1993 she finished studying chemistry at the Technical University of Leuna-Merseburg , which was followed by a research course . Franziska Scheffler then began working as a research assistant at the Martin Luther University in Halle and the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. From 2003 to 2005 the family moved with two of the three children to Vancouver , where Ms. Scheffler worked at the University of British Columbia on a Feodor Lynen Scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation . She then worked as a research assistant, group leader and department head at the Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research, before taking over the chair for technical chemistry at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg in 2008 . In 2009 she took over the management of the institute and in 2012 became Vice Rector for Studies and Teaching.

Franziska Scheffler's work focuses on the development of new materials for energy storage and their practical application in the field of renewable energies and the environment. These include:
