history

The location of Frauwalde has been inhabited since the Neolithic around 7,500 years ago. This is evidenced by settlement finds from the Neolithic , Bronze , Iron and Slavic periods up to the arrival of the German settlers in the 12th century. From the 12th century onwards, the village stream separated the manor village of Frauwalde from the monastery village of Belthelin. Belthelin came in 1161 as a foundation to the Cistercian monastery Marien-Pforte zu Sitzenroda . This donation, consisting of the Slabori manor and seven hoof farmers, is attested in a document from 1198.

The village of Frauwalde is first mentioned in the Saxon church gallery for the year 1300, when the survivors of the village of Lamprechtswalde were settled in Frauwalde after a "great death" by the manor owner von Börln.

After the division of Leipzig, the only road from the royal seat of Torgau to the southern and Thuringian areas of Kursachsen led via the Belthelin district . Katharina von Bora fled this street on Easter vigil in 1523 . The reformers Luther, Melanchthon and Bugenhagen, as well as the servants of the electoral chamber, also crossed this street.

After the secularization of the monastery, the district governor of Torgau sold the Grangie along with the seven hoof farmers to the manor owner of Börln, Heinrich von Schleinitz, on the orders of Elector August.

It was not until 1815 that the districts of Belthelin and Frauwalde were merged into one municipality. From now on they had common village elders and lay judges . On July 1, 1972, Frauwalde was incorporated into Falkenhain. When the municipality of Falkenhain was dissolved, Frauwalde came to the municipality of Lossatal on January 1, 2012.
