Frederick George "Fred" Bourdginon (often also Fred Bergdinon ; born June 22, 1906 in Parry Sound , Ontario , † March 18, 1995 in Leamington , Ontario) was a Canadian ice hockey player who during his active career in the 1925/26 season two Played for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League on the position of right winger .

Career

Bourdginon was born in Parry Sound, Ontario, in 1906 , where he played ice hockey in the junior division of the Ontario Hockey Association until 1924 . He then moved to Minnesota in the United States . Hence, Minneapolis was mistakenly assumed to be his birthplace in earlier years . In the 1925/26 season , the right winger completed two games for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League , in which he remained pointless and punished. The Bruins signed the free agent on December 14, 1925. Further games were not to follow, as all of his ribs on one half of his body had been broken in the second game during a body check by Nels Stewart .

Following his career, Bourdginon settled in Windsor, Ontario. Among other things, he subsequently helped build the Ambassador Bridge over the Detroit River , which connects the cities of Windsor on the Canadian side and Detroit on the American side. He died on March 18, 1995 at the age of 89 in a traffic accident in Leamington, Ontario. His 50-year-old son was also killed.
