Freddie Miller

Freddie Miller (* 3. April 1911 in Cincinnati , Ohio , USA ; † 8. May 1962 ) was an American boxer in the featherweight .

On April 1, 1927, he successfully made his professional debut with a classic knockout win in Round 3 against Bill Barnes. On January 13, 1933, he became world champion of the NBA (the NBA was renamed WBA in 1962 ) when he defeated Tommy Paul over 10 rounds by split decision. He was also seen as a universal world champion at the same time. He was able to defend the title several times and lost it to Petey Sarron in May 1936 .

In 1997 Miller was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame .
