Frederick William Henry Francis Conyngham, 7th Marquess Conyngham (born March 13, 1924 at Slane Castle , Ireland ; † March 3, 2009 in Johannesburg , South Africa ) was an Irish - British nobleman , officer and politician.

Life

He was the son of Frederick Conyngham, 6th Marquess Conyngham and his wife Antoinette Winifred Thompson. As his father's apparent marriage , he was given the courtesy title of Earl of Mount Charles until 1974 . He attended Eton College . During the Second World War he served as a captain in the Irish Guards .

When his father died in 1974, he inherited his title of nobility as Marquess Conyngham , including the hereditary seat in the House of Lords . In 1976 he moved from Ireland to the Isle of Man , but continued to visit his son regularly at the family estate Slane Castle . Under the House of Lords Act , he lost his hereditary seat in Parliament in 1999.

He was committed to nature conservation and sport. At the end of 2008 he got cancer and died of it the following year, during a stay in Johannesburg , South Africa. He was buried on March 10, 2009 in St. Paul's Church in Ramsey , Isle of Man.

In 1971 he married Elizabeth Ann Hughes for the second time, this marriage also ended in divorce. In 1980 he married Daphne Georgina Adelaide Armor for the third time. On May 29, 1987, he was fourth married to Emma Christianne Annabel Agnew.
