The Freemasons are a British DJ and producer duo. They consist of Russell Small, one half of Phats & Small , and James Wiltshire. They are named after a pub in their home town of Brighton .

Career

They became known in 2005 with Love on My Mind with singer Amanda Wilson. The song contains samples from Jackie Moore's This Time Baby and When the Heartache Is Over by Tina Turner. After the title hit number 11 in the UK charts, it also became a great club success internationally. The song hit the official charts in many European countries, as well as Australia, and in the USA it was a number 2 hit on the hot dance airplay charts. It followed with Watchin ' (also with Amanda Wilson) and Rain Down Love (with Siedah Garrett ) two more club hits, which also reached the top 20 of the British charts.

They had their own biggest hit to date in 2007 with Uninvited , a dance version of the Alanis Morissette song newly sung by Bailey Tzuke. It reached the top 10 in several countries.

They also had great success as a remixer. The hit Mesmerized by Faith Evans became a number 1 hit on the US club charts (Billboard Hot Dance Club Play) with the remix of the Freemasons in 2005. A year later they did the same with In My Mind by Heather Headley and then with Deja vu by Beyoncé and Jay-Z , which also earned them a Grammy nomination. Other performers they remixed for include Whitney Houston, Fatboy Slim, Angie Stone, Luther Vandross, Loleatta Holloway, and Jamiroquai. Since 2007 they have also produced some songs for Kylie Minogue, Solange Knowles and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

In 2007 the Freemasons released two albums: the double album Shakedown with both their own songs and remixes, and Unmixed, only with the original versions of their own titles.
