Freeway Rider's MC

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Freeway Rider's MC is one of the oldest German motorcycle clubs .

history

The club was officially founded in 1974 in Hagen . Shortly thereafter, other clubhouses in Gelsenkirchen , Bochum , Lüdenscheid and Herne followed . The emblem, the so-called Color , has been a winged skull with a hat since 1977.

Over the years, the club assimilated other MCs, including the Blue Angels MC Essen, Animals MC Dinslaken, Dog Soldiers MC Essen, Blue Angels MC Bad Kissingen, Nightdrivers MC Bottrop, Road Runner MC Fulda, White Punks MC Bochum, MC Wesermünde, Flying Skulls MC Goch, Road Riders MC Moers, Road Riders MC Kamp Lintfort, Greif MC Hennef, Meadows Clan MC, Brotherhood MC, the Biker-Haufen MC Ostfriesland and the Kodiaks MC Bitterfeld.

For its 40th anniversary in 2014, the club said it had branches in 38 German cities - so-called chapters - with around 500 members. Even if the club complains about youth concerns in its statements, compared to the Hells Angels with around 650 members in Germany it is a fixture in the subculture of rockers , especially in North Rhine-Westphalia.

criticism

In its self-portrayal, the club always emphasizes that it is not an outlaw motorcycle gang and often refers to its social projects. The members are only interested in living the values of a rocker . In the course of the conflict between the warring clubs Hells Angels and Bandidos from 2013 to 2016, referred to in the media as a rocker war , Freeway Rider's MC also carried out various investigations and searches of clubhouses and private apartments.

The club is said to close the gap in the criminal milieu of the outlaw gangs in areas where neither the Bandidos nor the Hells Angels are represented . When the chapter was founded in Bremerhaven in early 2014, there were angry protests from citizens . When the Bandidos wanted to settle in Hagen in 2016, the Freeway Rider's MC organized protests. However, the security forces on site feared considerable excesses and carried out massive personal checks in the area . The motorcycle club has not yet been banned.
