Frehiywot Wondie (born January 21, 2000 ) is an Ethiopian sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Frehiywot Wondie gained her first international experience at the Junior African Championships 2017 in Tlemcen , where she won the gold medal in 54.43 s, as well as in 3: 48.19 min with the Ethiopian 4 x 400 meter relay. The following year she reached the semi-finals at the U20 World Championships in Tampere , where she was eliminated with 54.14 s. Even with the season she could not qualify for the final in 3: 39.29 min. In August she reached the semi-finals at the African Championships in Asaba , where she was eliminated with 54.39 seconds and finished fifth with the relay in 3: 44.84 minutes.

In 2018, Wondie became the Ethiopian champion in the 400-meter run.
