Freibeuter AG was a German punk band from the Nuremberg area that was founded in 2000 . At the end of 2010 the band officially broke up. The successor bands named HypaAktiv + and The Forgotten Youth are named on the website .

history

Freibeuter AG was founded in 2000 by the band members Mic, Jörg and Indy. Their first album, Guten Morgen Deutschland , was released in spring 2003. This CD was recorded live in the band's rehearsal room using the simplest means, mixed and produced using the DIY method. This CD is still only sold on the band's website.

Two years later the album Strafen & Klagen was released . Recorded again in the rehearsal room, but now in a much better quality thanks to newer technology. The second album was initially only distributed at concerts and via the website itself.

In early 2006, the album Strafen & Klagen was first included in the catalog of Nix-Gut Records , a label from Winnenden . The design of the CD was redesigned and the CD was professionally pressed.

In 2007 the album Bewegt dich was released . The main differences to previous albums are the new singer, an even more aggressive sound that also seems much clearer due to the first professional recording in a studio and thematically better elaborated texts.

In October 2010 Freibeuter AG and the befriended band DAUH from Nuremberg released a split CD with the title GoHo Punk . This time again as a DIY production and independent of a label.

December 2010 the band officially announced their breakup without giving any reason. On the band's website, co-founder Mic (guitar) announced that he would found a follow-up band called HypaAktiv + together with Schulz ("Dino", drums) and some former members of DAUH (who also broke up this year) . Shortly afterwards Matze (vocals) and Jörg (guitar) founded a new band called The Forgotten Youth . Both bands are friends and now also share a rehearsal room.

The unofficial subtitle of the band was "German punk in the 80s style", which was only given in retrospect through announcements of concerts by various organizers on flyers and was gratefully accepted by the band. In terms of content, the band's lyrics are mostly socially critical , anti-fascist and anarchist , but also tell fictional stories about life as a pirate, the strong urge for unlimited freedom and the celebration of festivals. Musically, the band is in the harder part of the punk spectrum, many elements from the 80s, in which hardcore punk developed, can be found at Freibeuter AG.

The Freibeuter AG is one of the first German punk bands to place their entire music and everything that is created around the band in terms of creative products (texts, CD covers, photos, videos, logos, etc.) under a Creative Commons license. On the website Jamendo , the albums Strafen & Klagen , Bewegt Euch and the band's share on the split CD GoHo Punk can be heard and downloaded free of charge.
